Background & History
In August of 2005, representatives from more than 20 of Colorado agencies and organizations began meeting to discuss opportunities for state wide child abuse prevention efforts. The initial steering committee decided early on that it would not provide direct services but rather would focus on coordinating statewide communication, issue advocacy, and furthering public understanding about child abuse prevention.
In September of 2007 the group began a serious discussion about the possibility of establishing a Prevent Child Abuse America state chapter. In March 2009, Prevent Child Abuse Colorado became a provisional chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America and by the end of the year had established itself as an independent nonprofit organization in the State of Colorado.
We educate, connect, and mobilize Colorado communities and families so our children can grow and develop free from abuse and neglect.
